Medical Ozone Therapy

Ozone has been researched and used as a medical therapy around the world for decades, especially in Russia and Europe. Hundreds of peer-reviewed scientific publications demonstrate the effectiveness of ozone in management of many different diseases including cancer, autoimmune disease, inflammatory conditions, cardiovascular disease, endocrine disease, chronic pain and acute or chronic infections. There is even evidence that ozone can help slow the aging process. The best part is that ozone has almost no side effects when used correctly. Nutrimedicine’s staff members are excited to offer ozone therapy to the public for health promotion, illness prevention and disease management (both acute and chronic conditions).

Ozone Therapy is Evidence-Based

There are many publications listed on PubMed (the US National Library of Medicine database) dealing with ozone therapy dating back about 20 years. Research data that is decades older is available from Germany and also Russia, where ozone therapy is approved by the Ministry of Health. Ozone therapy has been  found to be useful for:

  • Auto-immune diseases like colitis, multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis (modulates the immune system)

  • Back pain due to disc herniation

  • Cancer (improves immune system function and produces peroxides in the blood that kill cancer cells)

  • Emphysema

  • infections of all kinds (bacterial, viral, fungal and parasite), even Ebola virus, osteomyelitis and infected joint replacements

  • Inflammatory conditions like bursitis, tendonitis, plantar fasciitis, carpal tunnel syndrome

  • limb salvage in cases that would normally require amputation (e.g. diabetes or vascular disease)

  • Nerve injury (stimulates healing)

  • Non-healing wounds related to poor blood flow or infection (e.g. diabetic foot ulcers)

  • Osteoarthritis (eliminates pain and stimulates cartilage regeneration)

  • Osteonecrosis of the jaw (death of the jaw bone) caused by bisphosphonate drugs or multiple myeloma

Ozone Administration Methods

At Nutrimedicine Center , ozone is administered by the following methods:

  • Minor autohemotherapy

  • Inflation or “insufflation” into a body cavity (e.g. bowel, bladder, sinus)

  • Topically as humidified ozone gas or bags

  • Sc injections for wrinkles and face

  • Intramuscular injections for pain

  • Near joint injections for joints inflammations

  • Topical application as high potency ozonated olive oil

Our naturopathic doctor and our nurses are specially trained by our Medical Director, and are now experts at administering all forms of ozone therapy according to a high set of standards.

Ozone Therapy Safety

  • Ozone has been studied in humans and animals and found to be very safe.

  • Most people do not experience side effects, but feel nothing or even improvement of energy level, mental clarity or visual clarity. A small number of individuals are sensitive to ozone, so we always start with a low dose and increase gradually.

  •  Accidental inhalation of the gas may invoke minor symptoms. These include burning eyes, coughing, nausea, lightheadedness, or a mild headache. These symptoms are temporary and usually resolve shortly after the treatment.

  • A Herxheimer (Healing) Reaction is possible. This is the technical name for “detoxing” or feeling worse before you feel better. While your body is cleansing toxins and waste patients may feel flu-like symptoms. This is not an Ozone side effect, but a natural healing process seen in other modalities as well. This process lasts a bit longer than the others but is nothing to worry about and resolves itself as you detoxify your body.

Secondary, Positive, Ozone Therapy Side Effects:

  • Healthy hair and nails

  • Healthy and radiant skin

  • Improved energy levels

  • Deeper, more restful sleep

Our bodies need ozone when we lack it, our immune systems suffer. The benefits of this treatment are fantastic while there is minimal risk. Maybe Ozone Therapy is worth a shot? Rectal Ozone Therapy

This procedure involves introducing ozone into the body through the rectum. This may sound like a strange thing to do; however, ozone is easily absorbed through the walls of the colon to the bloodstream. Ozone administration enhances oxygen utilization in the body which improves blood flow, helps reduce inflammation, and balances the immune system. Ozone experts around the world* believe that Rectal Ozone Insufflation is “95% as effective as Major Autohemotherapy”, which is the most accepted ‘blood’ method of introducing ozone into the body. (*Renate Viebahn (Germany), Dr. Robert Rowen (USA), Dr. Frank Shallenberger MD (USA), Silvia Menendez (Cuba).

Rectal insufflation is a minimally invasive way to use ozone in your home that is just as effective as the blood methods but requires no needles, no syringes, no discomfort. It does require more frequent administration to get as high of a dose as blood methods. Rectal insufflation is particularly helpful for intestinal disorders such as colitis, and can also help restore a healthy gut flora.

Frequency of treatments:

  • Recommended once daily (M-F) for 3 weeks, then 1 week off, then 1-3 times a week thereafter as maintenance
